8 Albert Embankment is a partnership between U+I and the London Fire Brigade. Prior to founding New Construct Gavin was U+I’s Development and Trading Director and led the team that won the bid.
The development will be a stand out public private partnership for its complexity and mix of uses. It includes a fire station, a museum, a boutique hotel, a rooftop restaurant, private and affordable residential, a standalone office building and ancillary retail.

The planning situation was particularly complicated. U+I were selected after the previous developers failed to secure planning permission.
To help engage with the local community a meanwhile-use community and events space – The Workshop – has been opened. Alongside a pop-up London Fire Brigade museum, the space is home to charities, social and start-up enterprises and artists, all with creativity at their heart.
